Where in the world did they come up with a hideous name like Tan Yard park??? What does it mean? We are going to tan the yard or something? makes no sense. I say go with Riverside or Riverwalk Sports Complex.

"The Haves New Park". The concept for The Have-Nots Park has not been fully destroyed yet nor have astronomical rip-offs been determined, therefore not ready to dump onto the unsuspecting public yet.

Tan Yard Park

Tan Yard Park is unique to Columbus and simple. The designers who came up with the name are proffesionals and know the meaning of the right name for a city landmark. I think you do want people to ask about the name. How many cities have a Rivierside Park? That's too generic. Riverside Park could be in 75% of the cities in the U.S. No way in hades do any of our public officials deserve a legacy like this either.

The original United States Survey of 1823, which includes Columbus, calls Moore’s Creek the “Tan Yard Branch” and shows a farm or improved area south of the creek about where the park is being developed and north of Military Street (now Second Avenue ...more »
